Originally, one of the largest sheep and cattle stations in the country, it was purchased in 2008 by the New Zealand Government and became part of the public conservation estate. Nowadays it is a playground rich in recreational opportunities – from hiking, to mountain biking, horse riding, skiing, hunting and fishing. The St James Walkway offers a number of spectacular tramps of varying lengths and the St JamesTrundlingTrail is an incredible ride. Both offer unforgettable 360-degree panoramic views.
