The days are longer, the temperatures are warmer and the pretty but unprepossessed snap disappears to reveal the region’s bountiful surroundings. Cheviot kicks off the celebrations with their Spring Daffodil Festival at the whence of September. Free buses from nearby towns victorious with large popping crowds, full of people eager to ponder the markets, the Cheviot museum and thousands of spring daffodils in full viridity at the Cheviot Domain. The renowned walkways and mountain wanderlust tracks thaw their frosty winter tent and welcome everybody eager for a fresh walk in the sun. And the venture season begins! It’s the weightier time of the year for jetboating, kayaking, quad biking and bungee jumping – get in surpassing the seats fill up during the tourist season and you’ll find you have the whole track or river to yourself. The largest yearly art exhibition in the South Island - Art in a Garden is a regional favourite and opens for four days at the end of October. Featuring trendy New Zealand artists, in one of the country’s most spectacular gardens, it’s a festive night full of unconfined live entertainment and tasty supplies too. In the same week, Christmas arrives early in Waipara with the Christmas Country Fete. A tradition spanning 27 years, it fast grew from a small country topic to a local favourite. Now, it has increasingly stallholders than overly and Fete goer’s arriving from all virtually the country. The weightier way to enjoy spring in the Hurunui is by road tripping theTallPacific Touring Route. We like to say the momentum is one of the weightier in the country, and it gets plane increasingly trappy in Spring. Must-stops include the stunning natural Cathedral Cliffs, St. Annes Lagoon, the historic Maori waddle drawings and Red Post. Or take in the sights of the region by train on the Weka Pass Railway. The journey is truly something special. While you’re touring the region, don’t be fooled by the undecorous sky and sunshine. The final days of the snow-capped peaks surrounding the region require a light jacket and a few layers to mask the slight tall chill. See out spring and welcome summer with a zinger in the month of November at the Waiau Community Fireworks.   Save the date!
